The Opportunity Institute is a place where youth, ages 13-18 can reach their full potential in Jesus Christ. We support the God-given talents, gifts and visions of young people by exposing them to training, internships and the arts. O.I. exposes youth to opportunities that enlighten and build upon their imagination.

Since December of 2008, the Opportunity Institute continues to serve community youth and is now under the authority of Senior Pastor Darnell Jones of First Missionary Baptist Church. We have seen amazing transformations in the lives of the young people there. One youth has recently been inspired to become a Pastor upon completion of his college education as a result of attending our program!

 We work in an objective, customized, and creative manner to provide smart solutions that help young people meet the challenges of today.  O.I. helps youth recover from low-self esteem and an overall lack of vision for their lives by offering enriched bible study and biblical application training (empowerment workshops), totaling in 40 hours of classroom training. Our empowerment workshops are designed to expose and challenge the current world culture with the Word of God, which is the ultimate authority and source of truth. We also provide tools that help develop and strengthen the faith of teenagers worldwide.

Dear Friends & Family:

 The Opportunity Institute is proud to announce that our staff and youth are scheduled to minister again this year to the current residents and family members of the Ronald Mc Donald House, in Pasadena, CA on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.  We are partnering with our friends at TARGET, CHICK-FIL-A (USC) and various Christian artists this year to raise awareness about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Director for the Ronald Mc Donald House of Pasadena has welcomed O.I. with open arms and is looking forward to working with us again this year.  Toys collected from our community partners and religious organizations will also be donated to this event.  This is a great opportunity for your children, grandchildren and family to bless families in need.  God bless you!

O.I. OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of our program, participants will be able to achieve the following objectives:

• Increase their exposure to and understanding of personal Bible study.
• Recover from low self-worth/esteem.
• Identify an overall vision for one's life.
• Learn how to apply and maintain effective youth conflict/resolution tools.
• Understand how to combat the world's interpretation of human sexuality.
• Acquire and/or strengthen several personal and professional needs (social & business etiquette skills).
• Learn how to use a resume as a marketing tool.
• Practice behavior-based interviewing and giving/receiving feedback.
• Effectively evaluate a college or university offer and job offers and/or benefits.
